Northern Beech
Harder than Red Oak, Beech is used primarily for contemporary furniture because of its consistent soft grain and relatively uniform texture.  A light to medium tan color with a pinkish hue, it is similar to Birch, but, without the luster.  Some have compared Beech's grain to Mahogany, although, its color is much lighter.  A water-based finish will keep it bright while an oil-based finish will deepen the color and accent the smooth grain.

Select & Better Grade (NOFMA): Northern Beech
Available unfinished, or factory pre-finished with a micro-bevel, this plain sawn grade includes the naturally occurring wood character such as minor color variations and varying grain patterns. A tan to pinkish-red colored choice for flooring, this grade offers a lighter warm look with great durability.

Country Grade (NOFMA #1 Common): Northern Beech

Available unfinished, or factory pre-finished with a micro-bevel, plain sawn, with much of the naturally occurring wood character remaining such as small tight knots, color variations from light tan to warm reddish brown and varying grain patterns for a less formal look.
