American Black Walnut Plank Flooring

American Black Walnut is now used for luxurious wide plank wood floors because of its beauty, durability and stability - but since early days, Walnut was one of the preferred hardwoods for fine furniture and woodworking. Prized for its rich, dark tones; walnut is an excellent choice for a truly distinctive hardwood floor. Whether you desire a formal look or the more rustic charm of distressed floors, American Black Walnut is an excellent choice for a wide plank wood floor. Beginning as an almost purple color, American Black Walnut, the only domestic wood that starts off dark, quickly turns a beautiful nut brown with the sapwood remaining a slightly lighter color for contrast. We carefully choose the face with the most heart wood for the top of each flooring plank to minimize the inherent color variation between heartwood and sapwood in American Black Walnut and then steam the planks prior to kiln drying to provide a more consistent finished wood floor. With any finish, American Black Walnut plank flooring will develop golden highlights as it lightens on exposure to sunlight.

CountryPlank.com offers walnut flooring in a variety of grades and styles. We can also apply custom surface treatments to your walnut floor including a variety of distressed looks or hand scraped edges on the sides and ends.

Walnut Hardwood Flooring:
Select & Better Grade (NOFMA): Select and Better Grade Walnut Flooring
Available in solid planks or engineered planks by special order, unfinished, or factory pre-finished with a micro bevel; this plain sawn grade is virtually free of knots, with some small pitch pockets and the beautiful characteristic Walnut grain and a relatively uniform deep color, to enhance a formal design style.

Walnut Hardwood Flooring:
Select & Better Rift & Quarter Sawn (NOFMA): Select & Better Rift & Quarter Sawn Walnut Flooring
Available in solid planks or engineered planks by special order, unfinished, or factory pre-finished with a micro-bevel, this grade is virtually free of knots, with some small pitch pockets, a relatively uniform color and is hand selected for straight grain. With the deep chocolate color of Walnut - but, without the typical varied grain, this option is suitable for the most formal applications.

Walnut Hardwood Flooring:
Country Grade (NOFMA #1 Common): Country Grade Walnut Flooring
Available in solid planks or engineered planks by special order, unfinished, or factory pre-finished with a micro bevel; this plain sawn grade has most of the naturally occurring wood character remaining such as knots, gum pockets, distinct color variations and varying grain patterns adding to its popular appeal. This option is adaptable to a variety of design styles where the deep brown color of Walnut is desired.

Walnut Hardwood Flooring:

Rustic Grade (NOFMA #2 & #3 Common & Better): Rustic Grade Walnut Flooring
Available in solid planks only, unfinished, or factory pre-finished with a micro-bevel; plain sawn, with more of the naturally occurring wood characteristics remaining such as larger and more frequent knots, gum pockets, distinct color variations and varying grain patterns than Country Grade. This grade is suited to a more relaxed setting.

Our listing of solid walnut hardwood flooring prices includes both finished and unfinished wood planks in many widths and lengths. If you are interested in engineered walnut floors, consider your application - will the walnut floor be installed on or below grade? Do you have moisture or stability concerns? Will your hardwood flooring be installed directly to a slab? Or, do you just need a thinner wood floor? Pricing of walnut floors is affected by the length and width of the floor boards, your choice of solid hardwood or engineered wood, whether you want your walnut floor prefinished or unfinished, and the grade of walnut floor you select. To complete your walnut hardwood floor, don't forget custom milled black walnut air vents or custom walnut stair materials. And of course, please check our specials page to see if any of our walnut floors are overstocked.
